Solar energy

By capturing the rays of the sun, solar photovoltaics delivers clean, reliable power for communities and businesses. As global energy demand soars, AES is positioned to meet the moment. With deep expertise across utilities, and energy generation and storage, we provide the solar expertise to deliver power—where and when it’s needed most.

Solar energy benefits

Solar power generates cost-effective, reliable energy with minimal operating costs and no fuel requirements. The result is long-term price stability and flexible land use options. Integrating solar with farmland (i.e. agrivoltaics) allows for dual land use, creating new revenue opportunities while maintaining agricultural production.

Efficient and responsible land use

A person wearing white gloves is planting a small tree sapling in the soil. The sapling has green leaves and the person is kneeling on the ground, wearing white clothing and sneakers.

Reduced carbon footprint

Two workers in hard hats and gloves handle a stack of solar panels on a pallet at a solar farm. A green tractor and a white truck are parked nearby. Rows of solar panels stretch into the distance under a blue sky.

Local economic benefits

Utility scale solar

Utility scale solar produces electricity on a massive scale. Each project generates over 50 MW, often providing enough power to serve thousands of homes and businesses. Learn more about our operational and in development projects.

Community solar and distributed generation

A community solar project, typically 10 MW or smaller, is built on private or public property and is designed to serve multiple customers. Distributed generation is installed onsite, usually for a single customer, such as rooftop solar for a business or government facility.  Learn more about the technology, its benefits, and how we can support you and your community.
