Solar + Storage in Indiana

Crossvine project

under construction

AES Indiana’s Crossvine is a planned solar and battery energy storage system facility under construction in Dubois County, Indiana. The project will create jobs, build community partnerships, generate revenue for local governments and schools, and protect the environment.

Economic and environmental benefits

The project is expected to generate substantial economic and environmental benefits for local communities and the region.

Jobs

  • Supports the creation of 237 new local jobs during peak construction in Dubois County
  • Supports the creation of 15 new long-term jobs throughout the project's operating lifespan

Local Revenue

  • Over $62.9 million in total local taxes for all taxing districts over the life of the project
  •  Over $21.5 million in new local earnings during construction for Dubois County
  • Over $3.1 million in new local long-term output for Dubois County annually

Environmental

  • Solar projects can give land time to rest from intensive agricultural use, which may help improve soil health, reduce erosion, and allow native vegetation and pollinator habitats to become reestablished over time
  • When responsibly developed, solar projects can deliver environmental benefits beyond clean energy, including supporting pollinator habitats, improving soil health, and reducing stormwater runoff
  • Solar-plus-storage projects provide clean energy during the day and store excess power for use during periods of high demand, helping improve grid reliability without adding pollutants into the atmosphere

Project details

  • Sited on approximately 437 acres of privately owned land
  • AES Indiana will be the long-term owner and operator of the facility
  • At the end of the project's life, a decommissioning plan allows for the land to return to agricultural use or other uses consistent with land-use policies at the time

Contact us

AES has established a formal Stakeholder Resolution Program for the Crossvine Solar Project. Community members may contact the project team with questions, concerns, complaints, or grievances related to construction activities or the Project.

The project phone line will be staffed during normal business hours and monitored for voicemail messages after hours and on weekends. Upon receipt of a complaint or concern, AES will document the issue, acknowledge receipt, investigate the concern, and work directly with the individual to seek resolution through the Project’s established complaint response process. We appreciate the continued partnership and engagement of the Dubois County community as this project moves forward.
