We commend Senators Lee, Capito, Heinrich, and Whitehouse for their efforts to advance the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026. Electricity demand is growing rapidly, and meeting that demand while keeping electricity reliable and affordable requires timely investment in new generation and transmission infrastructure.

Permitting delays and regulatory uncertainty remain major obstacles to bringing that infrastructure online when it is needed. AES supports a pragmatic, technology-neutral energy policy that enables the development of the energy solutions needed to meet growing demand.

We look forward to working with members of Congress on this bipartisan legislation that would provide greater certainty, accelerate responsible development, and help build the energy infrastructure needed to support economic growth and job creation.

We urge Congress to advance the bill and deliver meaningful permitting and transmission reforms that support reliable, affordable electricity for American families and businesses.
