AES' Halcon wind farm is a planned 800 MW wind facility, to be developed in phases, in Starr County, Texas. The project will deploy advanced wind energy technology to diversify the state's energy resources while delivering reliable and affordable energy to customers in Texas.

Project details
- Located about 25 miles north-east of Rio Grande City
- Sited on approximately 60,000 acres of privately owned ranch land
- AES will be the long-term owner and operator of the facility
- At the end of the project's life, a decommissioning plan allows for the land to return to agricultural use or other uses consistent with land-use policies at the time
