El Salvador

Our energy never stops

For 27 years, AES El Salvador has contributed to the country's development, strengthening our leadership as a benchmark in the national and regional electricity sector. Our expertise in power distribution allows us to deliver safe and reliable energy to 1.6 million customers, covering 80% of El Salvador’s territory. We also drive energy sustainability through clean power generation at our 16 plants and by developing innovative solutions for commercial and industrial customers, supporting them in their transition toward a more efficient and sustainable future.

Improving lives in the communities we serve

We implement ongoing programs that create shared value for communities and contribute to their sustainable and inclusive development. Through our four sustainable impact pillars — AES Education, AES Women, AES Rural Energy, AES Environment — we address topics such as energy efficiency education, economic inclusion and gender equality, as well as the protection of natural resources and biodiversity.

Sustainable Impact

Together with our people, our communities, and our strategic partners, we put all our energy into building a better future.

We promote inclusion, empowerment, and economic development for Salvadoran women by offering specialized training in residential electrical installations, enhancing their skills so they can excel in work fields traditionally dominated by men. Since 2016, we have graduated 883 women, of whom 848 have earned certification as electrical technicians from the Salvadoran government.

We help build a more aware and informed society on the importance of electricity through our Magic Energy program, which has educated more than 700,000 children to date on the safe and efficient use of electricity through talks and activities in communities across the country.

We promote urban arboriculture and electromobility as strategic initiatives that contribute to building sustainable cities for present and future generations.

We are committed to fostering development and creating opportunities by expanding electricity coverage to low-income families in rural areas of the country. To date, we have helped reduce the number of households without electricity, improving the quality of life for more than 85,000 families.

We create initiatives aimed at raising awareness, conserving, and protecting our natural resources and biodiversity, especially marine ecosystems. In recent years, more than 300 of our employee volunteers have taken part in activities such as building nests and releasing sea turtles, as well as reforestation and beach cleanup campaigns.
