In moments of crisis, communities draw on their collective ability to come together, adapt, and rebuild. AES supports disaster response and community readiness by partnering with organizations to deliver immediate relief while strengthening readiness for future events.
Improving lives
Emergencies can have significant impacts on the health, safety, and well-being of communities. As the frequency and magnitude of natural disasters increase, it is vital to support communities before, during and after a crisis of any size.
Across AES’ markets, these efforts include disaster preparedness, emergency response, humanitarian relief, and investments that enable communities to stay prepared, respond quickly, and rebuild in the face of emergencies.
Delivering global impact
Colombia
In 2025, AES Colombia partnered with the Colombian Red Cross to deliver urgent relief and restore essential services following severe flooding in Boyacá. This partnership also supported the ongoing development of an emergency response plan to strengthen community preparedness for future crises.
Dominican Republic
In 2023, intense rains and flooding resulted in significant damage to the community of San Antonio de Guerra, near AES’ Mirasol solar site. In response, AES joined the aid committee alongside local government and the neighborhood council to support affected individuals. AES supplied and distributed construction materials, food, medicine, and household appliances to support reconstruction and help affected families recover.
México
In late 2025, flooding from Tropical Storm Raymond affected many communities in the Huasteca region. AES México provided refrigerators to preserve food and medication for displaced community members, construction materials for post-disaster debris management, and food baskets.
United States
Since 2022, AES has partnered with the American Red Cross as a member of the Disaster Responder program to support communities before, during, and after emergencies, from home fires to large-scale natural disasters. Since 2022, AES has supported more than nine American Red Cross chapters and hosted over 20 blood drives. Through the partnership, AES has helped the Red Cross respond to major disasters, including the California and Maui wildfires and hurricanes across the Southeast U.S. region.
In addition, AES’ Safer Tomorrow Fund grant program provides support to local first-responder organizations to invest in equipment, training, and resources to strengthen community safety and emergency preparedness. In 2025 alone, AES supported 7 fire departments who serve over 150,000 people with life-saving equipment.
