Community resilience and relief efforts 

In 2025, AES Argentina volunteers provided over 10 tours to local primary, high school, and university students of AES facilities such as the San Nicolás Power Plant, Sarmiento Power Plant, and Ullum Power Plant. Through the visits, students learned about generation processes, technical careers, and the skills needed for future roles in the energy sector. These experiences help connect classroom learning with practical industry knowledge.

AES Chile volunteers partnered with the Los Maitenes community in San José de Maipo to create a shared space for local residents and students. The activity brought together nearly 60 community members, students, and AES employees to improve a local gathering area and strengthen collaboration between the company and the surrounding community.

AES Colombia launched a volunteer initiative in La Guajira to support educational opportunities for children and youth in the Ichipa community. Employees collected and donated books from AES offices to establish a community library benefiting over 200 young people ages 4 to 17. The initiative expands access to learning resources while strengthening relationships with communities near AES projects.

AES Dominicana, through the AES Foundation, partnered with local organizations to deliver educational workshops focused on health, prevention and community empowerment in Montecristi. The workshops provided residents with practical information on women’s empowerment, domestic violence prevention, personal hygiene and cancer prevention, helping address community-identified needs and support long-term well-being.

Since 2015, AES volunteers have participated in an Olive Ridley sea turtle release at El Espino beach,  In partnership with Zoological Foundation of El Salvador (FUNZEL) and the OIKOs association. Each release returns hatchlings of this vulnerable species to the ocean and supports the partners' wider work to conserve El Salvador's marine ecosystems.

AES volunteers participated in a painting day to improve the workspace of Señora Lourdes, a beneficiary of AES’ Mujeres Que Brillan program and local entrepreneur. By creating a safer and more ergonomic environment for her tailoring business, the initiative strengthened her ability to grow her enterprise, serve her community, and mentor other women entrepreneurs.

AES Mexico employees organized food, clothing, and blanket drives to support communities in Veracruz, Puebla, and San Luis Potosí that were impacted by severe flooding. The volunteer-led collections helped provide essential supplies to families affected by the disaster, demonstrating AES' commitment to supporting communities during times of need.

In 2025, AES offices organized over 50 volunteer initiatives across the United States, from native tree and shrub planting to serving meals at local food banks. At AES’ US utilities in Indiana and Ohio, over 400 volunteers participated in the annual Day in the Parks, where AES people planted trees and shrubs, cleaned parks and communal spaces, and painted and refurbished community centers to improve shared spaces.
