The Greens Corners Solar Project is a proposed 140-megawatt (MW) solar facility located in the Towns of Hounsfield and Watertown in Jefferson County, New York. The project received its siting permit on September 22, 2022, with a modification accepted in February 2024 to increase the total permitted nameplate capacity from 120 megawatts (MW) to 140 megawatts (MW). Construction is anticipated to begin in 2027, with commercial operation anticipated in 2028.

This project will allow for continued production of clean energy, as well as help diversify the state’s energy resources while delivering affordable and reliable energy to meet New York’s rapidly growing electricity demand.
Project details
The Greens Corners Solar Project provides significant economic, social, and environmental benefits to New York State, Jefferson County, the Town of Hounsfield, the Town of Watertown, and surrounding communities. During construction and through to operations, the project will:
- Create more than 100 construction jobs during peak construction
- Create 2-3 long-term jobs to support ongoing project operations
- Boost the local economy and generate additional business for local businesses during construction and operation
- Provide substantial added tax revenue to the Town of Hounsfield, the Town of Watertown, Jefferson County, and local school districts
- Help New York State achieve its clean electricity generation goals
Greens Corners Solar has executed a formal Interconnection Agreement with National Grid. The project’s dedicated point of interconnection is an existing National Grid 115 kV transmission line, securing our physical path to tie into the local power grid.
