Together, we are accelerating the future of energy in Hawaiʻi

Hawaiʻi was the first state in the nation to mandate that 100% of its electricity be generated by renewable or clean energy. AES Hawaiʻi supports this ambitious goal with 12 projects in operation or under development statewide, contributing more than one-fourth of the state’s renewable energy portfolio. AES Hawaiʻi is the largest renewable energy developer in the state, and has provided reliable, low-cost energy for Hawai‘i’s communities since 1992.

RESILIENCY

Strengthening local energy security

Building a resilient power grid is key to Hawaiʻi’s clean energy future. AES Hawaiʻi’s Kūihelani Solar + Storage project, which became operational in 2024, is delivering locally-sourced power to Maui residents and businesses at a lower, more stable cost than traditional thermal assets or imported power, and supplying 15% of Maui’s energy needs. The proposed Kūihelani Solar Phase 2 project will generate an additional 10% of Maui’s energy needs.
