The Performance and Reliability Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, diagnosing, and improving equipment and thermal performance, as well as ensuring the reliability and availability of critical systems at Eagle Valley CCGT (700MW) and Harding Street Station (1,000MW). This role combines advanced condition monitoring with reliability engineering practices to optimize plant operations and asset lifecycle management.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and use advanced pattern recognition software models and plant operational data to detect changes in the operating behavior of plant equipment and systems.
- Perform daily monitoring of site critical components using advanced analytics software.
- Respond to, evaluate, and prioritize alarms for potential equipment issues, and provide recommendations to optimize plant systems.
- Support and interface with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to assess equipment anomalies.
- Communicate equipment anomalies to plant operations and engineering personnel.
- Identify and classify associated risks, provide mitigation recommendations, and ensure resolution tracking.
- Monitor equipment performance and predict component health to improve reliability, availability, maintainability, and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational problems identified by thermal performance software models.
- Capture and quantify avoided costs to express the value of team activities.
- Update, retrain, and evaluate the adequacy of existing APR and thermal performance software models.
- Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify potential reliability issues.
- Implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies to enhance equipment uptime.
- Manage asset lifecycle planning and reliability data analysis to support long-term operational goals.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to resolve issues
Technical Knowledge:
- Field expertise in plant systems to improve performance and reliability.
- Experience with energy generation plant equipment and multiple DCS systems.
- Knowledge of vibration systems, performance monitoring systems, and machine learning algorithms.
- Experience with IT/OT network configurations and diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with ASME Performance Test Codes and reliability engineering standards.
- Experience with OEM equipment such as GE, Siemens, Toshiba turbines.
- Understanding of power plant controls, control logic, and vibration analysis.
- Proficiency in reliability engineering tools and methodologies.
- Familiar with IEEE codes.
Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets.
- Strong communication skills to present findings and translate data into actionable insights.
- Professional competence in technical forums and venues.
- Expertise in EtaPRO software suite.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in generation and reliability engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
- Certification in reliability engineering or related field is a plus.
