SOLAR POWER IN KENTUCKY

McCracken Solar

in development

This project marks a pivotal step toward a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. This innovative 60 MW solar farm in Kentucky will generate enough power to deliver renewable energy to 10,000 homes annually while creating long-term economic impact for the region, including local job creation and property tax revenue.

Economic and environmental benefits

We believe in being a good neighbor, ensuring responsible clean energy development that benefits both the environment and local communities without burdening existing infrastructure.

Local impact partnerships

AES has forged strong relationships with local, state and federal leaders ensuring our projects deliver tangible benefits to the communities where we operate. We are a member of the Vernon Chamber of Commerce and supported Texas Hill Country flood relief efforts this summer, with plans to support more local impact.

300 Jobs

Expected to be created during peak construction.

350+ jobs

Expected to be created during peak construction, and an estimated 4-5 long-term operations and maintenance jobs.

Project details

McCracken Solar serves as a model for future solar projects across Kentucky, demonstrating how solar farms can integrate seamlessly into the local economy while providing affordable clean energy. In addition to powering homes and businesses, the McCracken solar project will also help strengthen the energy grid and ensure a sustainable, reliable energy supply during peak demand periods.

  • 615 acres of privately held land, equivalent to 0.36% of McCracken County's total land area
  • AES will be the long-term owner and operator of the facility
  • At the end of the project's life, a decommissioning plan allows for the land to return to agricultural use or other uses consistent with land-use policies at the time
