The Corporate Finance & Treasury Manager is responsible for executing corporate finance transactions for AES in Panama companies and overseeing the administration of existing financings across each property. The role leads financing, liquidity, and financial risk management activities, including banking relationships, credit and covenant compliance, cash flow forecasting, scenario analysis, and the identification of financial instruments to mitigate risk.
The position supports the planning and execution of dividends, management fees, and other payments due from operating subsidiaries to stakeholders and shareholders.
The role manages investor relations by developing and delivering clear, compelling investment messages to buy-side and sell-side analysts, banks, rating agencies, and other investors for each business. It also prepares and supports disclosure materials, including presentations and earnings releases, and coordinates market communications as required.
Responsibilities:
Structure debt products including but not limited to loans, syndicated loans, bonds and project financing
Identify and execute liability management transactions.
Maintain close working relationship with senior level bankers, investors and shareholders.
Involve key stakeholders (minority shareholders, financing partners, AES Corp, other SBU Areas and local management) as needed to ensure transactions have necessary resources and correct level of involvement to ensure successful execution.
Support in the implementation of financing strategies to achieve cost effective funding consistent with optimal tax strategies, statutory capital requirements, and risk exposure management objectives.
Support the Interface with FP&A to develop 3-12-month standardized cash flow forecasts and scenarios around major business sensitivities.
Use long-term forecasts to provide detailed and regular dividend forecasts for each business.
Ensure key Treasury assumptions are implemented correctly into the LT models
Lead the cash management, payments, financing processes, and treasury controls.
Promote a proactive Investor Relations program, considering local regulations and requirements.
Ensure there is adequate disclosure and prepare compelling investor arguments in relation to topical issues and concerns of stakeholders.
Act as spokesman and communicator with rating agencies, institutional investors, banks and other financial related stakeholders (“stakeholders”) including AES Corp
Develop, report and monitor covenant compliance tests.
Identify opportunities to implement financial instruments to mitigate financial risk.
Requirements:
BA/BS in Business, Finance or related field (if not finance, MBA preferred).
At least 7 years of experience in a recognized international financial institution or similar role in another organization with international footprint and where he/she has had direct responsibility dealing with the financial community, investors, shareholders and disclosure requirements.
High level of Microsoft Office knowledge.
Spanish and English advanced.
Skills, knowledge and abilities required:
This role requires a mature business perspective and knowledge of core business drivers, strong analytical skills, certain exposure to corporate and project finance, certain familiarity with credit documents, attention to detail, entrepreneurial drive, a general concept of risk mitigation and strong internal and external networks
Good understanding of the energy sector in general.
Sound knowledge of the main accounting practices IFRS and GAAP.
International background and/or work experience preferred.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Exposure to corporate and project finance.
Certain knowledge of credit documents.
Entrepreneurial drive.
General concept of risk mitigation.
Strong internal and external networks.
Strong presentation skills are required
