AES to expand presence in Houston

ARLINGTON, Va, February 7, 2024 – The AES Corporation’s (NYSE: AES) US clean energy business announced today that it is expanding its footprint in Houston by increasing its office space at its GreenStreet Tower office in downtown Houston.

The expansion of AES’ Houston office is a strategic move by the company aimed at taking advantage of the Greater Houston area’s talent and resources in the energy sector.

“Innovation is in our DNA at AES and Houston is the capital of energy innovation,” said Kleber Costa, AES’ chief commercial officer, U.S. “As we grow our US clean energy business across solar, wind, energy storage and green hydrogen, our expanded presence in Houston will provide AES with competitive advantages that can only be found here.”

Currently, about 90 AES employees are based in the Houston office and include members of AES’ clean energy commercial team, as well as operations teams. Over the past three years, AES has sold more clean energy to corporations worldwide than any other clean energy company, according to BloombergNEF. In addition to solar, wind and energy storage projects, AES is also working in partnerships to develop two green hydrogen hubs in Texas that will be among the largest facilities of their kind in the U.S.

Costa said AES will double the size of its Houston office space, with construction beginning this spring, to more than 25,000 square feet.
