ENERGÍA SOLAR + ALMACENAMIENTO EN CALIFORNIA
Proyecto solar + almacenamiento Baldy Mesa

Our clean energy commitment
The Baldy Mesa solar + storage project is owned and operated by AES. We are committed to responsible clean energy development that creates long-term value and positive impact for both the environment and local communities.

Economic and environmental benefits
We believe in being a good neighbor, ensuring responsible clean energy development that benefits both the environment and local communities without burdening existing infrastructure.
Project details
The Baldy Mesa Project demonstrates how renewable energy projects can deliver economic and environmental benefits while seamlessly integrating into local communities. This project helps strengthen the energy grid, ensures a reliable energy supply during peak demand and advances California’s clean energy goals.
Power generated by the project is delivered to the power grid via a 5-mile transmission line connected to the Southern California Edison’s Roadway Substation in Adelanto.

Environmental review, permitting and impact

Multiple environmental, cultural and siting studies have been prepared for the Baldy-Mesa project.

The project has been reviewed under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), which included opportunities for public comment.

The City of Adelanto adopted a Mitigated Negative Declaration and granted a Conditional Use Permit for the project in November 2020 for the project to move forward.

These studies and reviews concluded that the project will not create any significant environmental impacts.

The project will not impact public land, recreational opportunities, scenic resources, or city resources, and uses very little water in operation.

Sustainability Resources
Sustainability best practices
At AES, safety is our highest priority, and we’ve focused on improving lives for more than 40 years. As a leading innovator in energy solutions, sustainability is core to both our strategy and our culture. We are committed to responsible land use and incorporating sustainable best practices into the entire project lifecycle to build a more resilient future.
Joshua Tree Preservation
AES went above and beyond permit requirements and voluntarily relocated 153 Western Joshua Trees, which were replanted at a location near the project site where they are being watered, maintained, and monitored for health over a one-to-two-year period. The goal is not only to preserve the trees but to generate data on the success rate for transplanted trees. The data will be shared with wildlife agencies and stakeholders as part of ongoing efforts to understand how to best preserve the local environment where we develop clean energy projects.
Local partnerships
At AES, we understand that our success as a company is only as strong as our partnerships with the communities where we operate. That’s why we partner with communities, customers, state agencies, higher education, elected officials, and other key stakeholders to see how we can best work together to support sustainable social and economic development. AES is proud to be a longtime supporter of community organizations and partnerships in Adelanto and Victor Valley.
