AES is pleased to announce a request for proposals (RFP) for up to 2 GW of carbon-free energy projects to support our 24/7 portfolio of customers in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM) and California Independent System Operator (CAISO) markets.

About the RFP

AES is issuing this RFP seeking carbon-free energy projects to support 24/7 carbon-free customers in PJM and CAISO. We are seeking proposals for the purchase of up to 2,000 MW of renewable energy resources, including environmental attributes, ancillary services, and capacity / Resource Adequacy (RA) from newly constructed renewable energy projects in the PJM and/or CAISO control areas.

You are requested to provide either/or PPA pricing or investment structures for review. For PPAs please provide pricing for bundled energy, environmental attributes, and ancillary services, both including and excluding capacity/RA attributes for terms of [10-20 years] in PJM and CAISO.

AES will also consider joint venture structures that support the development and funding of a project or pipeline of projects from experienced developers, creating structures that leverage both parties' strengths in the development, EPC, financing and O&M fronts.

Proposed PJM projects must have commercial operation dates (CODs) between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2025.

Proposed CAISO projects must have commercial operation dates (CODs) between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2026.

We will consider both unit contingent and fixed hourly shape structures from new solar, new solar + battery energy storage, new and/or repowered wind, new hydropower, and energy storage resources.
