AES is committed to responsible clean energy development that delivers reliable, affordable and sustainable energy to power California’s economy while creating long-term value and positive impact for both the environment and local communities.
Project overview
Project details
- Located on 3,800 acres of privately owned land
- AES is the long-term owner and operator of the facility
- Electricity generated from the facility is delivered to Clean Power Alliance under a 15-year power purchase agreement
- Utilizes land near existing electric grid infrastructure to minimize the need for new overhead transmission

Economic and environmental benefits
We believe in being a good neighbor, ensuring responsible and sustainable clean energy development that benefits both the environment and local communities without burdening existing infrastructure.
Clean energy benefits local communities
- Long-term tax revenue to counties, towns and school districts
- Job creation during construction and operation
- Local economic stimulus during construction
- Affordable, reliable, locally produced clean energy
- Improved air quality and reduced CO2 emissions
- Non-permanent development and low-impact construction that ensures land can be sensitively restored to pre-project conditions at the end of the project’s life

Environmental and technical studies
An Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Rexford project was completed in August 2020. The EIR is a comprehensive analysis that identifies any significant environmental impacts and mitigation measures as required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The EIR identified no significant impacts to the local environment that could not be effectively mitigated by designing and building the project in accordance with the latest applicable codes and safety standards.
