AES Completes $400 Million Redemption of Second Lien Notes

ARLINGTON, Va., May 18, 2010 --The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES) announced today that it has completed the redemption of $400 million principal amount of its outstanding 8.75 percent Second Priority Senior Secured Notes due 2013. As previously announced on April 15, 2010, the Notes were redeemed on a pro rata basis at a redemption price equal to 101.458 percent of the principal amount redeemed. The closing of the redemption occurred on May 17, 2010. The total outstanding principal amount of these notes following this redemption is $290 million.
