AES Announces Call for Redemption of 8.75% Second Priority Senior Secured Notes Due 2013

ARLINGTON, Va., Apr 15, 2010 --The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES) announced today that it intends to call for redemption $400,000,000 aggregate principal amount of its outstanding 8.75 percent Second Priority Senior Secured Notes due 2013. The Notes will be redeemed on a pro rata basis on May 15, 2010 at a redemption price equal to 101.458 percent of the principal amount thereof to be redeemed. The interest on the Notes payable on such date will be paid to the holder of record on May 1, 2010. Since the May 15, 2010 redemption date is not a business day, payment of the redemption price and applicable interest will occur on May 17, 2010. However, In accordance with New York law, interest will accrue only until May 15, 2010.
