Improving Lives in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean (MCAC)

Our portfolio of distribution businesses and generation facilities in five countries in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean are responsible for providing the regions’ energy needs for today and tomorrow.

Dominican Republic: Serving the Dominican Republic since 1997, AES Dominicana offers the most price-competitive electricity generation in the market. Our two deep ports support the region’s energy infrastructure—the AES Andrés liquid natural gas terminal is the exclusive entry for natural gas into the country, and Itabo is the country’s only port that can receive coal and other bulk materials via Panamax shipping vessels. AES Dominicana has been recognized as a Great Place to Work by the Great Place to Work Institute.

El Salvador: AES El Salvador and our four distribution companies (CAESS, CLESA, EEO and DEUSEM) serve the energy needs of 84 percent of the country.

Mexico: Our pet coke-fired and CCGT generation facilities, located in San Luis Potosi and Mérida, supplies power to offtakers and other customers in Mexico. AES Mexico has been recognized as a Great Place to Work by the Great Place to Work Institute.

Panama: AES Panama currently serves as the country’s largest electricity generator and Central America’s largest private hydroelectric generator, contributing to the region’s economic growth through our sustained investments. AES Panama has been recognized as a Great Place to Work by the Great Place to Work Institute.

Puerto Rico: Our plant represents approximately 9 percent of the country’s installed capacity. AES Puerto Rico has been recognized as a Great Place to Work by the Great Place to Work Institute.
