IPL demonstrates its strong commitment to volunteering in the community through corporate sponsored, volunteer-staffed events and its Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP). In 2009 alone, more than 650 employees logged more than 5,700 volunteer hours on IPL events and/or programs in support of area nonprofit organizations. These events included:
In addition, IPL’s Volunteer Involvement Program encourages employees to volunteer by matching their volunteer hours to a nonprofit organization with a $10 per hour contribution to that group (up to 50 hours annually). In 2009, IPL employees volunteered more than 10,000 hours in support of nonprofit organizations of their own choosing. More than 80 organizations received funds and volunteer hours through this program and a related monetary gift matching program.
