In 1996, IPL created the Environmentalist of the Year Award, which is given to a Hoosier who works or volunteers to improve the environment.

How to Nominate
Any Indiana resident working in IPL's operating territory is eligible for the IPL Environmentalist of the Year. IPL's operating territory consists of the following counties: Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks, Johnson, Morgan, Boone, Hancock, Shelby and Pike.
The recipient will be selected by the Golden Eagle Grant Advisory Panel and the award will include a check for $3,000.
Names may be submitted by the potential recipient or by another individual or group. The entry should include:
- the attached nomination form (click here to print the nomination form),
- a photograph (if possible),
- a description of the individual's activities and
- examples of how he or she has benefited the environment or worked to preserve or enhance Indiana's natural resources.
The entry may include letters of recommendation. All entries will become the property of IPL. Entries must be submitted by October 16, 2009.
