Guidelines for Grant Consideration

Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) is committed to the betterment of the communities where we do business. Through various programs and grants, IPL enhances the quality of life for its customers, its employees and its communities. IPL employees generously contribute their time to the community through volunteer efforts. The combination of financial support and human resources affirms IPL’s commitment to being a good neighbor.

Grant Policies

  • IPL makes grants only to organizations that have tax-exempt status of the Internal Revenue code.
  • Contribution dollars are generally limited to the communities where IPL does business, which includes Marion County, the seven surrounding counties and Pike County.

Guidelines

  • A grant given in any one year does not ensure future funding.
  • IPL will consider only one grant request per project in a calendar year.
  • Grant recipients must use the funds as agreed upon in a timely manner during the grant period specified in the award.
  • A report will be due outlining the use and outcome of the funds used.

Categories

IPL targets its support to organizations that fall into one of the following categories:

Arts & Culture -- Organizations that offer programs and activities to our community that heighten awareness of the arts and local culture of the community.

Community Enhancement -- Organizations that promote diversity and/or an improved quality of life in our community.

Economic Development --  Special requests that encourage economic development within our service territory.

Education -- Organizations that focus on a variety of educational objectives. A special emphasis is placed on the use of Math, Science and Technology.

Environmental -- Organizations that protect, conserve and/or improve the environment. 

Restrictions
Requests for the following will not be considered:

  • Health initiatives
  • Organizations without tax exempt status
  • Conferences or seminars
  • Projects benefiting an individual or just a few people
  • Political activities, candidates or organizations
  • Post-event funding
  • Walks and/or runs
