IPL Golden Apple Awards Video

We are asking entrants to send us a videotape of approximately 2 minutes in length that demonstrates your project.  This does not have to be professionally produced or edited video.  Home video quality is fine.

Your portfolio is not judged on the video content or quality.

Here are hints for making your video:

  • If your project involves anything exceptionally visual, this is the place to show it.
  • It’s OK to have a student or another teacher operate the camera for you.
  • Do not stage or rehearse the segment, we want it to be spontaneous.
  • If you have one available, use a tripod to keep the camera steady.
  • If panning or zooming, please keep the movement slow and steady.
  • If taping outdoors on a sunny day, keep the sun to the back of the person running the camera.
  • If audio is essential to the presentation try to minimize other noise in the vicinity while taping.
  • We recommend that you shoot this video with a video camera, not a cell phone camera or still camera.
  • The preferred way to submit your video is on a mini DV tape or DVD disc.

This isn’t rocket science.  Millions of 10-year-olds post videos to YouTube every day.  You can do this!

If you do not have a video camera available for use in your school or if you have questions about accepted formats, please contact your school’s Golden Apple Coordinator or Marilyn Shank at 317-293-5590.

Send your mini DV tape or DVD disc to:
