The Chivor Hydroelectric Plant is a company dedicated to power generation in Colombia. Our company has a dependable capacity of about 1000 MV and it is located in the jurisdiction of Boyacá State, in the Valle de Tenza region, 160 kilometers away from the country’s capital city Bogotá.

Our commitment is to transform, through the implementation of the most advanced technology, the natural water resources of our region into power energy for the development of our country and our own organization. We occupy the fourth place in power generation in the country, supplying 8% of the nation’s demand.

The Chivor Project was born as the greatest engineering project in the country, and today, 30 years later, we are still leaders in the implementation of the most advanced technological platforms in the entire region. Our personnel is not only highly qualified but also has been certified in each area of specialty.

AES Chivor is a subsidiary in Colombia of AES Corporation (Applied Energy Services), a world leader in electric generation. Founded in 1981 its mission is to provide safe, clean and reliable electric power at a reasonable price with environmental and social responsibility.
