Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions—one of today’s most significant challenges—require concerted international innovation and cooperation. AES’s response: committing capital and operating experience to projects that will help reduce GHG emissions and create emissions offset credits.

Under existing greenhouse gas regulations, investment in developing countries in projects that generate emissions offset credits is encouraged and must be located in countries that are signatories to the Kyoto Protocol. AES is well established in 19 such countries. These projects require a wide range of skills and experiences that are established strengths of AES -- local expertise on a global scale, a long history of successful projects in the developing world, and exceptional operational and technical skills.
