President and Chief Executive Officer

Andrés R. Gluski was named Director, President and CEO of AES in September 2011. He possesses deep experience in the global electricity business, and is recognized as an industry thought leader on international finance and operating infrastructure issues. In August 2012, Mr. Gluski was named International CEO of the Year by Latin Trade Magazine for his commitment and accomplishments as CEO of one of the world's leading power companies.

With more than 20 years of proven experience, Mr. Gluski has created an operational excellence mind set at AES. He led the turnaround of some of AES' most significant operating businesses, as well as spearheaded a major expansion program in Chile. Under his leadership, AES was the first company to be recognized with three Edison Electric Institute awards within a six year time span. These awards were granted for the Angamos power plant in Chile, as well as performance improvements at AES Masinloc in the Philippines and AES Latin America. He is also responsible for a number of portfolio management activities that strengthened AES' liquidity; these include the sales of EDC in Venezuela, the Ekibastuz power plant and Maikuben West Coal Mine in Kazakhstan, the AES Atimus telecommunication company in Brazil and several distribution businesses in Argentina.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Gluski served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of AES from 2007 to 2011. He was Regional President for Latin America from 2006 to 2007, Senior Vice President for the Caribbean and Central America from 2003 to 2006, CEO of La Electricidad de Caracas ("EDC") from 2002 to 2003 and CEO of AES Gener (Chile) in 2001.

Before joining AES in 2000, Mr. Gluski held several leadership roles including: Executive Vice President and CFO of EDC, Executive Vice President of Banco de Venezuela (Grupo Santander), Vice President for Santander Investment and Executive Vice President and CFO of CANTV (subsidiary of GTE). Mr. Gluski worked with the International Monetary Fund in the Treasury and Latin American Departments, in addition to serving as Director General of Public Finance for the Ministry of Finance of Venezuela.

Mr. Gluski currently serves on the Board of Directors of Council of the Americas, the USA Spain Council and the Edison Electric Institute. He is Chairman of AES Gener and AES Brasiliana. Mr. Gluski is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds an MA and a PhD in Economics from the University of Virginia.


Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary

Brian A. Miller serves as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. He leads and is responsible for AES' Government Relations department and Environmental policy efforts, and also heads the Ethics and Compliance department.

The National Law Journal recently recognized Mr. Miller as a "Visionary" and as a Legal Times Award winner for his role in the Washington, D.C. legal profession. First Chair of Chicago recently honored him with a Top General Counsel award. In 2011, Corporate Secretary, a leading compliance and governance publication, honored him as the Governance Professional of the Year. Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association honored the AES Legal Department as the "Outstanding Law Department" in the Washington, D.C. area.

He is a member of the Boards of Dayton Power and Light, a regional energy company based in Dayton, Ohio; the Business Council for International Understanding, a business association established at President Eisenhower's initiative in 1955 to promote international understanding through dialogue and action between government and business executives; Entek, Ltd. a joint venture established in 2010 with Koc Holding for the development and operation of energy businesses in Turkey and surrounding countries; and AES Solar Energy, a joint venture between AES and Riverstone Holdings responsible for the development and operations of solar power.

Mr. Miller joined AES in 2001 and has served in various positions, including co-head of Business Development, Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Corporate Secretary, General Counsel for North America and Assistant General Counsel.

Prior to joining AES, Mr. Miller was counsel in the New York office of Chadbourne & Parke. Mr. Miller holds a JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law and a BA from Boston College in History and Economics.


Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

Tom O'Flynn serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at AES.  He is a member of the Board of Directors of Gener, an AES company.

Mr. O'Flynn came to AES in September 2012 from his post as a Senior Advisor with The Blackstone Group in New York City, where he assisted the Private Equity Group's efforts in the power and utility sector.  Prior to Blackstone, Mr. O'Flynn spent nine years with PSEG as Chief Financial Officer and guided the company through a significant transformation.  PSEG is a $30B asset company with a diverse portfolio of USA and international utility and merchant power businesses. 

Before joining PSEG, Mr. O'Flynn had a successful 15-year career as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley in the Global Power and Utility Group, ultimately becoming Managing Director and the Head of North American Power.  

Mr. O'Flynn attended Northwestern University on a full tennis scholarship and graduated with a BA in Economics in 1982.  He earned his MBA in Finance at the University of Chicago, where he graduated in 1986.  He is also a Board member of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.


Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President

Andrew Vesey serves as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President at the AES Corporation. He currently leads the company’s global operations portfolio with businesses in 20 countries. Mr. Vesey was named Chief Operating Officer in November 2012. He is a member and chairman of the Board of Directors of several AES companies. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Organization of American States' Trust for the Americas, the Institute of the Americas, the US Philippines Society and the US Energy Association (USEA.)

Mr. Vesey has over 30 years of experience in the electric and gas utility industry. His broad experience covers generation, transmission, distribution, customer service, retail sales, corporate support functions, international project development, business start-up, product development assignments, change management and process re-engineering. Mr. Vesey also has significant experience with labor relations and collective bargaining.

Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Vesey served as Chief Operating Officer, Global Utilities leading AES businesses in 10 countries from 2011 to 2012; Executive Vice President and President for Latin America and Africa from 2008 to 2011; Chief Operating Officer for Latin America from 2007 to 2008; and Vice President and Group Manager for AES Latin America, DR-CAFTA Region from 2006 to 2007. Mr. Vesey served as Vice President of the AES Global Business Transformation Group from 2004 to 2006, where his responsibilities included enabling best-in-class performance at all AES existing assets, supporting development activities including the integration of new acquisitions, the validation of new network-based technologies and the global regulatory function.

Mr. Vesey joined AES in 2004 from FTI Consulting Inc., where he was a Managing Director of the Utility Finance and Regulatory Advisory Practice. Prior to that, Mr. Vesey was a Partner in the Energy, Chemicals and Utilities Practice of Ernst & Young LLP, CEO and Managing Director of Pty of Melbourne, Australia, and served in several senior leadership roles at Entergy and Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation.

Mr. Vesey is the co-author of Unlocking the Benefits of Restructuring: A Blueprint for Transmission, published by PUR Inc. and a contributing author to The Virtual Utility: Accounting, Technology & Competitive Aspects of the Emerging Industry, published by Kluwer Academic Publishers. He has spoken widely about electric utility restructuring, transmission and the role of new technology.

Mr. Vesey received his BA in Economics and BS in Mechanical Engineering from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and his MS from New York University.


Chief Information Officer and SVP of Global Business Services

Elizabeth Hackenson serves as Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Global Business Services. She is responsible for AES' shared services to include IT, strategic sourcing and insurance programs. She also leads the Innovation and Technology Council for AES, and is a board member of several AES companies including Indianapolis Power & Light and Dayton Power & Light in the United States, AES Chivor in Colombia and AES Sul in Brazil. She has over 30 years of experience leading technology operations and initiatives across large-scale, complex organizations.

Ms. Hackenson is the former Senior Vice President and CIO at Alcatel-Lucent where she was responsible for the oversight and operation of the company's information systems infrastructure, including global communications systems, corporate networks and e-business platforms. Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent in April of 2006, she held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for MCI. In this position, she employed innovative approaches to create a business-focused IT organization, and developed, managed and maintained the company's supply chain systems.

In 2005, Computer World named Ms. Hackenson one of its top 100 premier IT leaders. The Washington Post named her one of the top 200 female executives in 2004 and Information Week ranked the department she led as one of the top 100 for IT leadership. Her corporate tenure has spanned several Fortune 100 companies including British Telecom (Concert), AOL (UUNET) and EDS. She served in a variety of senior management positions, working in the delivery of information technology services to support business needs across corporate-wide enterprises.

Ms. Hackenson earned her degree from New York State University. She is a Strategic Advisor to the Paladin Group.
